Wednesday 8/21: Shonali @ Cherry Street Tavern
Shonali Bhowmik, a Nashville-born comedienne and indie rocker, co-founded the band Ultrababyfat while in law school and currently leads Tigers and Monkeys. She’s opened for Pavement and PJ Harvey. Her recent release One Machine at a Time blends genre exploration with personal depth, paying tribute to her late father. Thursday 8/22: North Mississippi Allstars @ Barrelhouse Ballroom
The North Mississippi Allstars, fronted by brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson, blend blues, roots, and folk into their signature soulful southern rock. Over 25 years, they’ve released twelve albums, earned five GRAMMY nominations, and toured with icons like Robert Plant, Mavis Staples, and Tedeschi Trucks Band. // Barrelhouse Ballroom 8PM $28/33 Ticket link
Thursday 8/22: Cardiel @ Boneyard
Originally from Venezuela, skate punk band Cardielformed in Mexico City in 2010 to create high-energy punk tracks for skate videos, eventually earning a feature in Thrasher magazine. This led to skate rock tours with Thrasher and Vans. Local support includes emo pop outfit Onion Milk and rock ‘n’ roll band Lewis and The Danger Sweats. // Boneyard Bar 9PM $10 at door
Thursday 8/22: Signs Following @ The Woodshop
Signs Following celebrate the release of their debut album with their first-ever live show. Led by Josh Mays and featuring Monica Wright, John Hooker, and Ben Johnson, the experimental folk-inspired band brings an expansive, creative sound to an eager audience. Thursday 8/23: MOLD! @ Yellow Racket Records
MOLD!, a psychedelic rock band formed in Miami, Florida by Peruvian immigrants Carlo Barbacci and Bronto Montano, headlines the night. Also on the lineup are two standout local acts: shoegaze favorites Briteboy, and The Ego Museum, a project led by Chris Johnson. Friday 8/23: Black Tusk @ JJ’s Bohemia
Black Tusk, a stoner sludge metal band from Savannah, Georgia, have released eight albums since their 2005 formation, defining their gritty and powerful sound as “swamp sludge.” They kick off their late summer tour at JJ’s Bohemia, with support from New York’s Somnuriand West Virginia’s Horseburner. Friday 8/23: Tatsuya Nakatani @ Barking Legs Theater
Avant-garde percussionist and composer Tatsuya Nakatani has released over 80 recordings and performs 150 concerts annually. His innovative use of bowed gongs and intricate textures creates intense, experimental sounds that challenge and captivate listeners. Saturday 8/24: Monsoon @ Boneyard
Athens, Georgia-based duo Monsoon deliver an electrifying blend of power-punk and art-rock, merging unconventional styles into dynamic tunes that oscillate between frenetic punk and inventive indie pop. Saturday 8/24: Local showcase @ Pax Breu Ruim
Alex The Band, Christian Newport, and Cody Ray will headline one of the Southside’s favorite spots (check out that amaro selection!) for an evening of local music. Alex The Band, shifting from a recent acoustic residency, returns with his full ensemble. Christian Newport will offer his signature laid-back tunes, while Cody Ray leads his talented crew of musicians. // Pax Breu Ruim 8PM $10 donation
Saturday 8/24: Worm @ Redbud
Worm, who unfortunately missed last week’s show, will return to Redbud this Saturday. They’ll be joined by alternative rockers Repulsion, emo punk band Weatherwise, and the wavy bedroom pop project Nor. See you there! // The Redbud Venue 7PM $10 at door
Sunday 8/25: Band of Horses, Michigander @ The Signal
Band of Horses, a staple of the early 2000s indie wave, have continuously evolved without being confined to a single sound. With six albums, a GRAMMY nomination, and two decades of touring, they remain a live favorite.
