Indie dance-pop ensemble to headline The Signal alongside Holy Wave and happy sad face on September 28.
Since their inception in 2007, STRFKR has artfully blended dance-pop, electronica, and psychedelic indie rock, crafting songs with authentic and profound lyrical depth. Frontman Joshua Hodges founded the band as a creative outlet amidst the pressures of the commercial music industry.
STRFKR’s music defies industry norms, exploring themes of authenticity and mortality, often incorporating inspired lyrics from philosopher Alan Watts and occasional audio samples.
Joshua Hodges, Shawn Glassford, Keil Corcoran, and Arian Jalali form the core of STRFKR, with the band undergoing a name change from Starfucker in 2012.
In March, the band released Parallel Realms, their seventh studio album via Polyvinyl Records. The record boasts a lively and upbeat collection of electro-pop tracks.

Somehow, this many years into an ever-changing evolution, STRFKR has made some of their most accessible music yet while still furthering the introspective thinking and self-imposed challenges that have always pushed their art forward. Parallel Realms courses with positivity even in its heaviest moments. Opening bands for the show at The Signal include Holy Wave, a psychedelic pop band from Austin, Texas, and happy sad face, an experimental pop band based in Joshua Tree.
