Chattanooga-based musician Alex Volz, performing under the moniker Alex The Band, has released his new album Chihuahua.

Far from a typical music release, Chihuahua is a twelve-chapter concept record that intertwines classical guitar and spoken word to tell the poignant story of an aging man and his loyal dog.

In an article in The Pulse announcing the release, Volz shared his inspiration from both classical composers he discovered during the pandemic and the real-life struggles of an old man he once knew.

The album delves into themes of housing insecurity, aging, and the enduring bond between the man and his pet.

Volz acknowledges that Chihuahua may not resonate with everyone, but its unique narrative structure and emotional depth make it an immediate standout for us, especially if you enjoy introspective and unconventional storytelling.

The album is available on streaming platforms now.

An official release show will take place on Saturday, September 21st, at Yellow Racket Records, with Dixon Blake Callahan opening the show.
