Catch the acclaimed blues singer-guitarist from Ruston, Louisiana at the Nightfall Concert Series This Friday Night at 7PM
This Friday night D.K. Harrell takes the stage to headline the weekly Nightfall Concert Series at Miller Plaza. A world-class blues guitarist with stunning vocals, Harrell has swiftly risen from local talent to an internationally sought-after musician.
The singer-guitarist from Ruston, Louisiana debuted with his album, The Right Man, released in June 2023 by Little Village Foundation, a music non-profit supporting undiscovered artists. Harrell’s album featured 11 self-written songs and included celebrated jazz and blues musicians Jerry Jemmott, Tony Coleman, and Jim Pugh as his studio band.
The Right Man received global praise and became the second most-played blues album on U.S. radio that year.
Harrell’s exceptional talent has garnered admiration and invitations to sit-in from renowned musicians like Charlie Musselwhite, Bobby Rush, Susan Tedeschi, and Chris Cain. Recently, he was honored as Best Emerging Artist at the 2024 Blues Music Awards in Memphis.
This year, Harrell is set to perform at major U.S. festivals and embark on five European tours, spanning 10 countries
Blues Influences
A self-taught guitarist, Harrell’s passion for blues ignited at age 11 after watching the movie Cadillac Records. Initially inspired by Little Walter’s harmonica, he transitioned to guitar at 13 and became captivated by B.B. King.
His dedication to mastering the subtleties of King’s music led to his first paid gig at a 2019 B.B. King symposium in Indianola, Mississippi, where he played King’s iconic guitar “Lucille”.
Beyond his music, Harrell is committed to preserving traditional blues, sharing his unique story with younger audiences and encouraging them to experience live blues shows.
Awards & Recognition
Harrell’s accolades include a third-place finish at the 2022 International Blues Challenge and the King of the Blues award at the 2022 Jus’ Blues Awards. He made his international debut at the 2022 Mississippi Delta Blues Festival in Caxias do Sul, Brazil.
Touring extensively both domestically and internationally, Harrell continues to display his blues sound to audiences worldwide.
Nightfall Event Details

The show starts at 7:00 PM with the opening band Skip Cisto Band, a local blues rock group.
