Jakey Lutsko captures his take on 2024’s political chaos in his second EP, out this Wednesday, October 21.
Jakey Lutsko’s latest EP, Chemical Makeup, is a self-produced, dogged dive into the chaos of this year’s election cycle. His mix of hip-hop, grunge, and bedroom pop, combined with deeply introspective lyrics, creates a definitive alt-hip hop release.
Lutsko channels his political frustrations into tracks that pack a punch while maintaining a melodic sensibility. The lyrics are both moody and assertive, yet they remain anchored in well-crafted songs—an achievement that may sound straightforward, but one that many songwriters struggle to pull off.
Admittedly, hip hop has been an underexplored genre in our local music features, but we’re glad this catchy and well-produced EP made its way to us.
Chemical Makeup is currently streaming on Bandcamp, featuring two additional bonus tracks.
The EP will be available on other streaming platforms starting Wednesday, October 23rd.
