Lilly Hiatt takes the Miller Plaza stage this Friday, May 31, at 8PM for the second week of the Nightfall Music Series.

Choosing the same career as your father can be challenging. When that career is in the music industry and your father is prolific singer-songwriter and nine-time Grammy nominee John Hiatt, it might seem impossible.

But with five records, and tours alongside John Prine, Drive-by Truckers, Margo Price, and the Allman Family Revival, Lilly Hiatt has firmly established herself in the country rock scene.

In February, she released the single “Hidden Day.” Watch the video/listen to the single below.

Hiatt learned to play guitar at 12 on a 1953 Martin given to her by her dad. While at the University of Denver, she formed her first band, Shake Go Home, and released several EPs. Ultimately, she went her own direction. In 2008, she made her recording debut on her father’s album Same Old Man, singing on two tracks. Her music is guitar-driven with a country-folk rock flair, marked by unflinching honesty in her lyrics.

Lilly Hiatt has released five records since 2012: Let Down (2012), Royal Blue (2015), Trinity Lane (2017), Walking Proof (2020), and Lately (2021). Trinity Lane lead to a nomination for the Americana Music Association’s Emerging Artist of the Year award.

Don’t miss this incredible headliner, along with opening band The Briars, who will take the stage at 7:00 PM.

Also, remember that this year’s Nightfall starts serving food and beverages earlier, offering happy hour drink specials from 5:30 to 6:30 every week.

Friday, May 31 Nightfall at Miller Plaza, 850 Market Street, Chattanooga, TN 7:00pm // See our Nightfall Music Series spotlight for more info.
