This Friday night at the Nightfall Concert Series in Miller Plaza, Giovanni Rodriguez & 12 Manos will bring their kaleidoscopic mix of Latin rhythms and jazz to the Miller Plaza stage. Led by Giovanni Rodriguez, a Grammy Award-winning multi-instrumentalist, the band has enjoyed a weekly residency show at Rudy’s Jazz Club in Nashville.
Raised in Europe by Dominican parents, Giovanni’s deep and diverse musical background is reflected in his work. He’s not just a performer but also a composer, producer, arranger, and teacher. His other projects include the Music City Latin Orchestra and Music City Soul Breakers.
In 2018, Giovanni earned a Grammy for his percussion on CeCe Winans‘ album, Let Them Fall In Love, which hit #1 on Billboard’s Gospel chart.
Rodriguez also contributed to Victor Wooten‘s double album Swords & Stones/Words & Tones, and performed with artists like Chris Stapleton, Christina Aguilera, and Sheryl Crow.
Giovanni’s band, 12 Manos, features a rotating cast of talented professional musicians who bring a wild mix of salsa, jazz, and Afro-Caribbean sounds.
Their performances at Rudy’s Jazz Room in Nashville have become the stuff of local legend, combining bold riffs, tireless percussion, and sharp keys that get audiences up on their feet. Whether playing a salsa classic or a bachata rendition of a soul hit, they deliver performances unlike anything else.

Lisa Anita Baker opener
The show starts at 7:00 PM with the opener, celebrated jazz guitarist Lisa Anita Baker. Baker, a professor of music and trained jazz guitarist, has collaborated with legends like Oteil Burbridge, and Victor, Joseph, and Regi Wooten.
She will be performing with Andre Manga on bass, Yakou N’guessan on drums, and Randy Hoexter on keys.
