The Afternooners bring the party to Riverfront Nights this Saturday, August 24th, at 7 PM, joined by opener Et Cetera.

Week 13 of the Riverfront Nights Free Summer Music Series on Chattanooga’s waterfront features an all-local lineup that promises to be one of the funkiest shows of the season.

Headlining the event is alternative rock band The Afternooners, a five-piece group known for their high-energy performances that blend funk, R&B, and reggae.

Opening the show is Et Cetera, a progressive rock band made up of some of Chattanooga’s most talented musicians. Their sound is a dynamic mix of funk, jazz, and rock.

Since forming in 2017, The Afternooners have performed at over 100 college gigs and built a strong reputation throughout the Southeast for their lively shows that get fans moving.

In 2021, the band released their debut album Peace & Panic, recorded at Plaid Dog Studios in Boston and Nashville’s legendary Blackbird Studio A. They celebrated the album’s release with a sold-out cruise performance on the Southern Belle riverboat.

Now, as they prepare for their second album, The Afternooners continue to engage fans with new singles and live performances.

Their latest release, “BETCHA,” dropped in July and showcases their evolving sound.

Their next show at Home Bar is Monday, September 2nd, at 8:00 PM.

Et Cetera: A Fusion of Styles

The opening band Et Cetera is another act you won’t want to miss. The group features guitarists Alex Keiss and Adam Johnson, bassist Kellen Shiles, and drummer Drew McDowell.

Et Cetera’s debut EP ETC! is an impressive three-track release that blends funky jazz fusion and progressive rock. With a sound that draws comparisons to Umphrey’s McGee while remaining original, Et Cetera’s creativity and talent are undeniable.
