Americana singer-songwriter releases the third single from upcoming EP Honeysuckle Friend, set for release August 23rd.
Later this year, Rachel McIntyre Smith will follow her 2022 debut, Glory Daze, with a new EP titled Honeysuckle Friend, and it’s shaping up to be something special. We’ve already featured one of her previous singles, “Grow Up Slow,” and now she’s shared the third single, “Stoke The Coals,” from her forthcoming EP, set for release on August 23rd.
Rachel McIntyre Smith showcases her stunning voice and prowess as a pop songwriter, effortlessly combining her country charm with a more prominent mix of bluegrass instruments. “Stoke The Coals” leans more towards pop-inspired bluegrass compared to the pop-country sounds of Glory Daze.
Lyrically, “Stoke The Coals” and the other new singles exude an unshakeable confidence and determination, reflecting her growth as both an individual and a songwriter. While themes of ambivalence about contemporaries getting married, having kids, and advancing careers are present in these songs, Smith appears more self-assured and empowered in the pursuit of her artistry.
The song is available on all streaming platforms. You can listen to it below.
