The founding member of The Replacements and former Guns N’ Roses/Soul Asylum bassist makes his return to Lo Main with his latest twangy project.
Tommy Stinson, a founding member of the highly influential alternative rock band The Replacements, and bassist for Guns N’ Roses and Soul Asylum, will showcase his latest project in Chattanooga this month.
His band, Cowboys in the Campfire, will take the stage at Lo Main on Tuesday, May 28 at 6:00pm.
Tommy Stinson has an impressive rock ‘n’ roll resume.
He was a founding member of The Replacements, a pivotal alternative rock band that was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. After The Replacements split, he worked on solo projects with Bash & Pop and Perfect. He was a member of Guns N’ Roses for fourteen years, and spent seven years as bassist for Soul Asylum.
In this latest phase of his storied career, Stinson, along with his longtime songwriting collaborator, guitarist Chip Roberts, formed Cowboys in the Campfire. The duo’s creative partnership spans 15 years, during which Roberts contributed to songwriting for Stinson’s solo album “One Man Mutiny” and the Bash & Pop release “Anything Could Happen.”
Cowboys in the Campfire released their debut “Wronger” in June 2023, featuring a fusion of rockabilly, honky-tonk, alt-country, and diverse pop arrangements.
Choosing intimacy
As Cowboys in the Campfire embarked on their tour, they deliberately opted for small venues and intimate settings to connect closely with their audience. From backyards to libraries and living rooms, they’ve embraced unconventional venues for their performances. In an interview with Forbes, Tommy Stinson reflected on this approach: “It’s exactly on my terms. And I can do as much or as little as I want.”
This tour features Stinson, Roberts and upright bassist Michael “Chops” LaConte.
Tickets are available starting at $31.16, with premium options offering a pre-show meet and greet with the band.
