Renowned Artist and Musician Wayne White Returns to Chattanooga with His Band Username Password on Saturday, June 29 at 8 PM

The world knows Wayne White as a puppeteer, painter and visual artist. He created Pee Wee’s Playhouse, along with iconic music videos for Smashing Pumpkins and Peter Gabriel. He’s won Emmys and seen his work featured in museums all around the country.

But he’s also a musician. And this Saturday night, he’ll be in Chattanooga for a rare performance with his band, Username Password.

Wayne was born and raised here in Chattanooga. Even though he is based in LA these days, he still finds ways to contribute to Chattanooga’s art and music scene. Most famously, he opened an immersive local history museum called Wayne-O-Rama in 2016.

The project was produced along with Bob Stagner and the Shaking Ray Levi Society, a non-profit arts group that’s brought all kinds of unique creative talents to Chattanooga over the last 38 years – artists like David Sedaris, Olivia Tremor Control, Cat Power, and Of Montreal.

Bob is also a world class drummer, and he’s been collaborating with Wayne for a while. During the pandemic era, they assembled a virtual band featuring other Chattanooga musicians Jim Tate and Bryan Dyer.

This Saturday marks one of the rare instances when the whole band is in one place and can perform a live show together.

Alex the Band will open the show at 8:00 p.m.

Cover charge is $10, and tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance here. The Woodshop is an intimate venue, and this event may sell out. So I’d advise getting there early. Shoot, get there extra early so you can have dinner and drink a few beers in the beautiful backyard garden.
